Democratize.healthcare – less hocus, more pocus.

How digital transformation leads to major changes in healthcare and what that means for the future of pocus. Technology tends to ignite societal changes. One of these that the access to technology goes along with democratization. This happened with mobility once the car was invented, it happend to music, once the record was invented, and it happened to banking, retail etc. with the rise of the internet.

This presentation deals with the question of democratization of healthcare through the influx of technology. Especially ubiquitous computing will provide a plethora of new data but also more options for point of care ultrasound solutions, possibly even driven by consumers and patients. We look at the status quo and explore potential futures taking into account changing roles of healthcare professionals, healthcare providers and healthcare consumers.

A presentation by Tobias Gantner, Founder / CEO at Healthcare Futurists.

Question 3: What emerging technologies / trends do you see as having the greatest potential in the short and long run?
Once our understanding of how to work with data properly, we will push open doors to new ways of research. This research will not come from workbenches and animal test sites but will be more and more in-silico and they will be available much quicker. We will also see patients and citizens engage more in science by eg donating their data and thus becoming part of research networks.

Question 4: What kind of impact do you expect them to have?
We will get more data together that machine learning and AI can then work on to accelerate research results or point in certain directions where further research will be needed.

Question 5: What are the barriers that might stand in the way?
Physicians fear to lose jobs and standard of living; politicians fear not to be able to harvest quick wins, Systematic regidity towards disruptive innovation that might turn things upside down.
