SAVE THE DATE / CALL FOR PAPERS

for the 2nd edition of the international Point of Care Ultrasound Conference, 12 May 2022 in a hybrid format.

Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) uses ultrasound systems that allow quick diagnoses of medical conditions or echographic guidance of interventions. It is emerging as a reliable and valid tool in various clinical situations, such as emergency departments, intensive care units, perioperative care, general ward, and even in pre-hospital situations.

Due to the continuous technological developments there are two major trends visible which will impact POCUS and its users. On one hand, improved acquisition technologies enable acquisition of more details in focused areas of the body. Interpretation of these data, on the other hand, is getting easier and easier. This leads to smaller hardware (even the mobile phone is being used nowadays) in combination with a simplified ease of use. This means that POCUS gets more affordable and doesn’t require an extensive training and education for all applications anymore!

These developments will undoubtedly impact the daily activities of healthcare personnel, like anesthesiologists, radiologists, and nurses. This fascinating changes will go together with both legal, ethical and societal impact.

This conference is in particular meant to bridge the gap between technological developments and clinical applications and will therefore focus on following three topics, related to the use cases in Vasculair, Cardiac, Lung, Gastric, Uterus, and others:

  • Acquisition
  • Interpretation
  • Medical decision making (incl. Legal, ethical and societal impact of future use)

We invite researchers, medical and technical professionals, and industry to present their view on this.

Join us as speaker, attendee or partner / sponsor on 12 May 2022.

The scientific committee consists of Chairman Arthur Bouwman, Professor Chris de Korte, Professor Massimo Mischi, Marc Buise, MD PhD, Patrick Houthuizen, and Peter Van de Putte.
